چکیده

Stable silver nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by chemical reduction of silver nitrate in ionic liquids 1Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate [Emim] BF4 and 1Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [Emim] PF6 at room temperature. The characterization of the silver nanoparticles such as their size and shape was performed by X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) techniques which indicated a size range of 50 to 55 nm. The antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles for three gram negative bacteria and three gram positive bacteria were investigated. It appeared that [Emim] PF6 and its Ag nanoparticles are the most effective products against the tested bacterial stains compared with [Emim] BF4 and its Ag nanoparticles.

Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Hydroxyl Functionalized Ionic Liquids and Their Antimicrobial Activity

We report a new one phase method for the synthesis of uniform monodisperse crystalline Ag nanoparticles in aqueous systems that has been developed by using newly synthesized mono and dihydroxylated ionic liquids and cationic surfactants based on 1,3-disubstituted imidazolium cations and halogens anions. The hydroxyl functionalized ionic liquids (HFILs) and hydroxyl functionalized cationic surfa...

Synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles and its immobilization on alginate coated sutures for the prevention of surgical wound infections and the in vitro release studies

The Silver nanoparticles are well-known for their antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory wound healing abilities. We synthesized Silver nanoparticles using chemical reduction method and the formation of the silver nanoparticles was characterized by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, FT-IR and SEM techniques. The minimum inhibitory concentration of the synthesized nanoparticles was determined for both gr...

Room Temperature Synthesis of Mequinol by Using Ionic Liquids as Homogeneous Recyclable Catalysts

For the synthesis of Mequinol (4-methoxy phenol), two acidic ionic liquids based on imidazolium cation (BMSIL and IMSIL) synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, 1H NMR, and CHNS analyses. Tan, the Baeyer–Villiger oxidation of para-anisaldehyde was studied with these ionic liquids, as the catalysts. The results showed that the BMSIL with more Brønsted acidic functions had higher c...
